Jady Dwight ‘Whitey’ Spell, 65, died suddenly Thursday, August 18, 2016, from injuries sustained in a car accident in rural Mississippi. Whitey was born Sept. 13, 1950, a native of Bogalusa, LA, and a lifelong resident of Covington, LA. Jady Dwight ‘Whitey’ Spell is preceded in death by parents, Otis Sr. and Donice Spell; brother, Ray Spell; father-in-law, Norman ‘Cedric’ Taylor; brothers-in-law, Steve Taylor and Jason Fontenot; sister-in-law, Charlotte Torres. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Spell; his children, Elissa, Laura, Brent and Jason Spell; daughter-in-law, Kelly Spell; granddaughters, Haley and Jenna Spell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Otis Jr and Melanie Spell, Jeff Spell, Sterling and Chris Spell, Noel Spell; mother-in-law, Lois Taylor; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry and Lynn Taylor, Carolyn Taylor, Norman and Kathy Taylor, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Whitey served in the Merchant Marines. He worked as a driver for UPS for 37 years. Whitey was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and farmer. Whitey will be missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services Monday, August 22, 2016 at 1:00 pm, at Shepherd’s Care Ministries, 20115 LA-1081, Covington, LA. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Barker-McManus Cemetery.
