Jacqueline Marie Brettner

November 5, 1980 — May 23, 2024

Madisonville, LA

This can only be an attempt to describe what a magnificent young woman Jacqueline Marie Brettner De Obaldia was and will forever be to all who met or knew her. Jackie passed away at the age of 43 on May 23, 2024 in Madisonville, LA.

Words fall short when speaking about someone who was such a force of nature. Jackie's family and friends meant the world to her, and she worked arduously to give them what was needed. She was relentless, resilient, loving, and kind. Jackie dedicated her energy and resources to helping others. She lived her life knowing there was more reward in giving than receiving. She believed in and fought for important causes that impacted so many. Human rights never left her mind, and she had a mind that never rested.

As a child she excelled in music, sports, drama, academics, had an exemplary sense of humor with a photographic memory that earned her too many awards to mention. As an adult, Jackie realized her potential and went on to shine through her talent for the performing arts, producing and recording her own music, teaching students from elementary to graduate level, and creating multiple businesses along the way. She was a proud Florida Gator before furthering her education at Tulane University School of Law. She received multiple awards during her studies and throughout her career.

Jackie lived for the people she loved. She is survived by Lauren, the love of her life, Sophia (11), her magnetic daughter, and Alistair (7), her little MVP. She will be greatly missed by her siblings; Alfredo, Luis, Andrew, and Angie; her mother Chelita, dad Christopher, Aunt Mar, Uncle Ted, and Aunt Alicia, as well as so many others. Jackie was far more than many of us could aspire to be. She was known to speak her mind and lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her heart of gold led her to rescue ducks, dogs, cats, and endless little animals she loved that became part of her family.

She will never be far, as she often told us: "Look at the birds and for the signs" to feel the presence of those gone from us, and we will forever look for her. We suppose her mountains did call her back and we pray she can now rest. We will meet her again. Te amamos.

Jackie will forever live in our hearts and in the hearts of all the people she encountered. She was brave, confident, competitive, dedicated, loving, funny and sincere. She will continue to be a role model for many, and if we can fill half of her shoes, we are doing a great job. A private celebration of life for the family will be held at a later date.
