Jacob Evan Arnold McMahon was born on December 13, 1989 in Jefferson, Louisiana, but was raised in Covington, Louisiana to James and Tina McMahon.
Jake graduated from Covington High School in 2008. While at CHS he was an active member of the Lions Football team. After high school, Jake found his passion bartending and cooking at various restaurants in uptown New Orleans.
In May 2020, Jake was diagnosed with Oral Cancer. Despite his cancer diagnosis, Jake was still full of love and life.
Jake passed away on December 10, 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He passed away surrounded by friends and in the city that he loved so much.
Jake was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Anna Lightner; his maternal grandfather Louis Arnold Lightner; and his paternal grandfather Papa Gene McMahon.
Jake is survived by his mother, Tina Lightner McMahon; his father, Jim McMahon; his sister, Alex McMahon; his niece, Kennedy Rose Tarver; his paternal grandmother, Granny McMahon; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in the restaurant/hospitality industry in the uptown New Orleans area. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial service on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church 203 North Jefferson Avenue, Covington, Louisiana 70433 at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
