Irene Mary Moody, daughter of Anthony and Mary (Doniec) Samorajski, was born at home on the family farm in Shelburne, Massachusetts on December 19, 1934 and passed away on June 21, 2021 of cholangiocarcinoma, cancer of the bile duct. Irene is a graduate of Arms Academy and earned a BS from the University of Chicago and a M. Ed. from Fitchburg State University. She taught for 27 years at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School as a science teacher, and served as department head for several years. She was an active member of the Montachusett Regional Teachers Association and served as president for many years. She was also a member of the Nashoba Valley Chorale and the Hundredth Town Chorus.
Irene is predeceased by her parents and her brothers Anthony, Thaddeus, and Henry, and is survived by her three children, son Robert and his wife Ritsuko of California, son Paul and his wife Rose of Florida, and daughter Lisa and her husband Paul Engeriser of Louisiana. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Adam Moody, Maighan Moody and her husband Matt Gagen, Camilla Elizeu, Betsy Engeriser, Nicole Hamagami, Evita Moody and her husband Michael Scott, Alex Engeriser, Paula Moody, Paul Moody, Jr, and Erin Moody. She is also survived by her great-grandson Collin Moody and numerous favorite nieces and nephews.
Her friends are invited to attend a memorial luncheon on Saturday, July 10 at 12 noon at Cyprian Keyes Golf Resort at 284 E. Temple St., Boylston, MA.
