Mitchell Ike Galyean, resident of Slidell, LA, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the age of 83. He is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate of 34 years Carmelite Lagarde Galyean. Ike was born on October 9, 1934 in Bastrop, TX to RC and Jewel (Sorrells) Galyean. He is the beloved brother of RC Galyean, Jr. and father of Mitchell, Susan [Ernest] Green, Robert [Angela], Alice [Joe, dec.] Bua, Richard, Kristi Lacour, Laurie [Tom] Doster, Bennett [Cindy] Lacour, III, dec., Lisa Lacour, and Brent Lacour, dec.; survived by 25 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Ike was Deacon of the Baptist church and served the Lord faithfully throughout his life. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Texas A&I University in 1955. He had a long career with Texaco, retiring as Vice-President of Bridgeline Gas Distribution Company, subsidiary of Texaco. Ike was extremely involved in community service: Hospice Volunteer, Catholic Charities delivering food for seniors, conducted Sunday-morning service at Greenbriar Community Care Center (outreach ministry of First Baptist Church), Voting Commissioner-In Charge, and Choir member at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at First Baptist Church, 4141 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell, LA on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at St. Joseph Abbey in Covington, LA.
