It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hugh Daniel Broussard, a loving father, brother, uncle and friend to many. Hugh passed away peacefully in the comfort of his Metairie, Louisiana home on Sunday, May 12, 2024, shortly after his 65th birthday.
Hugh was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from O. Perry Walker Senior High School in 1977. An intelligent and industrious young man, Hugh worked as an offshore driller, which allowed him to travel the world, bringing back souvenirs and stories that he loved sharing with his family and friends. Between trips offshore, he loved being outdoors in the small town of Charenton, Louisiana where he lived for much of his adult life. Once he retired, he spent time caring for his two pet boxers, Caesar, and Jimma Ann. He will be greatly missed by all his friends (human and canine) at the Bonnabel Boat Launch Dog Park, where he frequented with both Caesar and Jimma Ann. Hugh also loved cruising around on his Harley, working on his vehicles, and spending the day on his boat. Throughout his life, Hugh looked forward to Saturdays and Sundays in the fall when he cheered on his favorite teams: the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints.
Everyone who was fortunate enough to share a meal with Hugh can attest to his fabulous cooking. He loved to cook and always made enough to feed a village. His delicious meals, and the community they created will be missed by many. Hugh was a kindhearted man, and always went out of his way to show others how much he cared for them, especially his beloved daughter, Macie. He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Broussard and Sylvia Hebert Broussard. Hugh is survived by his loving daughter, Macie Alexis Broussard (Mead) and two stepchildren, Jason Liner and Tonya Kristicevich. He is survived by his sister Melissa Broussard Ensminger (Cimarron), and brother Craig Broussard (Karen). Hugh is loved by his nieces and nephews: Adam Broussard (Nikki), Megan Parenti, Victoria Parenti, Amanda Parenti, and Joseph Parenti. Additionally, he is a great-uncle to Grant and Harrison Broussard. He also leaves behind his beloved pup and best friend, Jimma Ann.
