Howell “Gary” Mathas, 79, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at his home in Folsom, LA. He was born in New Orleans to the late George E. Mathas, Jr. and Willie Mae McCook Mathas and raised in Metairie, LA. He attended East Jefferson High School. Gary is survived by his loving children; Donnie Mathas (Robin), Bethany Wick (Bryan), and Adam Mathas (Julie), his cherished grandchildren; Garret, Conner, and Casey Wick, Hunter Mathas, and Margaret Mathas, and his precious great grandchild; Cameron Boyer. He is also survived by his sister, Loretta St Pierre, and his twin brother, Allen “Barry” Mathas, Sr. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Mathas, of 36 years and his sister; Lolita Campeaux, and his brothers; Eugene and George Mathas. He was a master carpenter and a member of the Masonic Lodge #188 in Covington. Gary was proudly a member of the Masons for fifty-years. Gary, Barry, and a friend, Tommy Richard, had a drag racing team in the early 60’s. They enjoyed competing around the country. He and another long-time friend, Mike Bridges, enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and other family members. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Gary on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home 75212 Hwy 437 Covington, Louisiana 70435 with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time.
