Holly Reese

d. June 10, 2022

Holly Renee Reese, 46, passed away peacefully and faithfully at home in the loving care of her family on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Holly was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 6, 1975, the daughter of Thomas and Marty Franz. Holly’s family moved to Flushing, Michigan when Holly was in elementary school.  Holly graduated from Flushing High School in 1994, and the University of Michigan, Flint, in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  Following graduation, Holly worked as a nurse at Hurley Medical Center in Flint.

Holly married her high school sweetheart, Steve Reese, in May 1998, and together they raised stepson, Braden, and daughters,Sydney and Morgan.

In July 2014 Steve, Holly and family moved to Covington, Louisiana, to pursue new career opportunities and to experience living in the South. During this time Holly worked as a nurse in multiple departments at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.

Holly and Steve enjoyed beach vacations as well as annual summer and Christmas trips to Michigan to visit family and friends.

Holly and Steve’s strong Christian faith drew them to become active members at Church of The King, serving as greeters, small group leaders, and Financial Peace University facilitators. In October 2019, Holly, Steve, and Morgan went on a mission trip where they poured God’s love into a small community and orphanage in Ethiopia.

In October 2020, Holly was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), an aggressive brain tumor. Holly endured three brain surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and participated in a clinical trial, which allowed her additional time to spend with her family, friends, and co-workers.

Holly is now joyously reunited in heaven with her father, Thom, sister, Robin, and nephew, Jackson Reese. Her living family and friends eagerly await reunion with her. Holly is survived by Steve, Braden, Sydney, and Morgan, her mother, Marty Franz, and her in-laws, Gary and Cathy Reese. She is also survived by her sisters, Gretchen (Brad) Schupbach and Abby (Jim) Stewart, and her brother in-law Eric (Amy) Reese, and eight nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 18th 2022 at Church of The King, Mandeville, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00am with service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Pre-Born! (www.preborn.org), or The Samaritan Center (www.samcen.org/donate/).
