Henry Rollins Whitty, Sr. passed peacefully in his sleep on February 6, 2023.
Henry was born in New Orleans, LA, on August 20, 1944
He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Frances Whitty, and his sister Patricia Whitty. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Whitty, of 56 years; his two brothers Stephen, Jr. and Chris: his two sisters, Tot and Sue: his three children-Henry, Jr.(Trish), Candace (Clint) and Heather (Gage). He was P-Bear to his grandchildren-William-Henry, Maylen, Hutson, Parker, Hattie, and one great-grandchild Hayden and was blessed with two step-grandchildren Justin, and Jonathan.
Henry was very passionate about his work for his family company in driven piling and foundation design at S.K. Whitty & Co. Inc. He served as president of the Deep Foundations Institute and an executive member of the Construction Institute of America. He was also an active member in several other local and regional construction organizations.
For many years, he was an avid sailor and enjoyed racing sailboats in Lake Pontchartrain and the Gulf of Mexico. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, and spending time with his family. Henry was an adventurer at heart and loved to explore food, waterways, and country roads … and tell a tall tale.
There was a small private ceremony with immediate family members present on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
