Henry Alvin Buchholz, Jr., a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, in Covington, Louisiana. Born on June 30, 1925, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Henry’s warmth and charm touched the lives of many throughout his journey. Henry served in WWII in the United States Marine Corps. He participated in action on Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa.

From a young age, Henry embraced the joys of life with an unwavering spirit. He held a deep love for his family, often prioritizing moments spent with his children and grandchildren. Their laughter and shared experiences brought him immense joy, creating cherished memories that will be lovingly remembered by all. He was particularly fond of introducing them to his favorite pastimes, whether it was a friendly match of tennis or a day out on the water, boating under the warm sun.

Henry's social circle was vibrant; he enjoyed many friendships that spanned decades. He looked forward to his regular gatherings with “The Rotten Apple Club,” where stories were exchanged and camaraderie flourished over lunches that always filled the room with laughter. It is these connections that painted vibrant strokes across the canvas of his life.

He was predeceased by his loving parents, Henry Alvin Buchholz, Sr. and Louise LeBouef Buchholz, as well as his sister, Anne B. Roccaforte.

Henry is survived by his adored wife of 72 years, Marion A. Buchholz; his devoted children, Colleen Buchholz Hollyfield (Roy), Cathleen Buchholz Huval (Barry), Hank Buchholz, Maureen Buchholz Judice (Dr. Michael), Eileen Buchholz Huval (Bryan), Colin Buchholz (Carla, dec.) and David Buchholz (Stephanie); his 16 grandchildren, Brooks H. Hellmers, Blair H. Jemison, Lauren H. Coxe, John Huval, Kristina B. Boudreaux, Hank Buchholz,  Adam Judice, Trevor Judice, Katy J. Budden, Megan H. Bucy, Patrick Huval, Colin John Buchholz, Joshua Buchholz, Catherine B. Hobbs, Cade Buchholz, Caitlyn Buchholz; as well as 34 great-grandchildren.

In a world where a simple smile and kind word can leave a lasting impression, Henry made sure to share those gifts abundantly. His spirit and the love he carried will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.

A private ceremony will be held at the request of the family.
