Harold Wayne Jenkins, known as Wayne, lost his four-year battle with cancer on January 19, 2025, at the age of 66. He was surrounded by his wife of 41 years, children, and grandchildren. Wayne grew up in Mandeville, LA as the oldest son of Harold and Betty Lou Jenkins.
Wayne attended Mandeville High School and was a gifted athlete and a four-year letterman in football. After high school, Wayne met his wife, Audrey, and they married on December 28, 1983. They started a family and lived in Mandeville. He worked in the construction business running his own company and was blessed to be able to use his natural abilities operating heavy equipment. When not working, he spent his time with his family and friends camping, hunting and fishing. Wayne loved spending time on Lee Road at his family’s property horseback riding and gardening with his dad. His last big adventure, to Audrey’s surprise, was beekeeping. Wayne and Audrey built their retirement home on his beloved family property and shared beautiful times with their children and grandchildren during the last few years of his life.
Wayne is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lou Jenkins, and his brother, Gregory Jenkins.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Audrey; his children, Justin (Chelsea), Garrett (Kristen), and Leanne; his grandchildren, along with his affectionate nicknames for them, Tatum (Boy), Adelynn (Trixie), Shep (Worm), Palmer (Thelma) and Maverick (Attwood); his father, Harold; his brother, Bryan; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
