Gwendolyn (Johnson) Gagliano (85 years old) passed away peacefully on Aug. 25 , 2023. She was in the care of The Tangi Pines Nursing Home / Hospice Care. Thank You, to all of the staff who had a hand in helping keep our mom comfortable in the last days of her life. Though we are saddened by the death of our Mother. Our Hearts are at Peace and Comfortable in knowing that mom is exactly where she has been longing to be, with the Love of her Life, her Husband and our Father. Gwen was born on July 13, 1938 in Metairie, Louisiana, to James and Annie Johnson. She was a resident of Bucktown, La. for many years, and later moved to Abita Springs before residing in the Nursing Home.
Gwen is preceded in death by her parents James and Annie Johnson, and her husband of 59 years - Joseph Anthony Gagliano - whom she has missed dearly since his death September 21, 2016. She was preceded in death by her siblings Anna Mendoza, James C Johnson III, Dorothy Connell, Madeline Morlas, Frederick J Johnson Sr., Willie R Johnson Sr., Lawrence A Johnson Sr, Bernard Johnson Sr.
Her surviving siblings are - Lucille M. Richardson Poole, Louise A. Harmeyer , Audrey Casey Gwen has 6 daughters: Gloria (Randy), JoAnn (Michael), Rosemary (Blake), Catherine, Darlene (Joe), Dori. She also has 11 Grandchildren: Kara, Crystal (Ricky), Brett, Michael, Billy (Hannah), Brandon (Taryn), James, Brittany, Michelle (William), Jennifer (Austin) and Dakota. She also has 13 Great Grandchildren: Fallon, Reagyn, Allie, Kylie, Wyatt, Blakely, Addie, Elizabeth, Liam Todd, Liam Shibley, Benjamin, Saylor, Charlie
Gwen is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and other relatives that have touched her heart in a special way.
She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed Bingo, Playing Cards, and going to the Casino. She loved family gatherings and being with her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be missed dearly. Mom - Your Wings Were Ready - But Our Hearts Were Not!!
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Monday September 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedicts Catholic Church 20370 Smith Rd, Covington, LA 70435.
