Gordon Wayne Downs, 75, of Mandeville, LA, peacefully went home to be with the Lord and his true love, Carolyn Downs, on Thursday, August 28, 2014.  He is survived by his daughters, Tiffany Downs Hadden (Ian) and Holly Downs (Bradley Rothschild), and grandchildren Cole and Connor Hadden, Cameron and Ethan St.Romain, and Keaton and baby Rothschild, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his loving sister, Carolyn Harford of Memphis.

Gordon was born in Illinois and became a resident of Louisiana after meeting Carolyn Lugenbuhl on a blind date.  Gordon was a journalist in the U. S. Navy, a draftsman for Amoco, a columnist for the St. Tammany Times Picayune, and was well known for his caricatures of Amoco retirees and western art.  His art design was a finalist for the 2002 Louisiana Commemorative State Quarter.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in the chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington La. on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 4:00 p.m.  Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
