Gillie Joseph Bourque, Jr. passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on November 12, 1927, in New Orleans, LA, he spent his formative years enjoying the vibrant culture of uptown New Orleans. Gil was a proud graduate of Holy Cross High School and later attended Tulane University.

A veteran of the United States Army, Gil honorably served during World War II in the Japan Occupation Army. His dedication to his country was a testament to his character and commitment to service.

Beyond his military service, Gil was an avid sports fan, proudly supporting the Tulane Green Wave throughout his life. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as golf, gardening, and indulging in wine tasting. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his family, cherishing the love and laughter together.

Gil is survived by his beloved daughter, Susan Bourque Crowton (Joseph), along with his grandchildren Sarah (Philip), Samuel (Jessica), and Seth (Olivia), along with his great-grandchild, Louis.

He joins in eternal rest his beloved parents, Gillie Joseph Bourque Sr. and Lizzie Como Bourque. As well as his dear wife, Jean Bernard Bourque, and his siblings, Thelma M. Bourque and Loulie B. Lichtenstein.

Gillie Joseph Bourque, Jr. will be remembered for his warmth, his kindness, and the countless memories he leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy will endure through the lives he touched and the family he cherished dearly.

Care has been entrusted to Bagnell & Son Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christwood Retirement Community in Gil's Honor.
