George Kobitz, Sr.

George Conrad Kobitz, Sr, age 80, peacefully passed away at home on April 17, 2022. He was born August 31, 1941, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 until 1962. George married the love of his life, Mary Zonia Kobitz, in December of 1966.

George is survived by his sons and their wives George, Jr. and Suzanne, Marty and Jennifer; grandchildren, William, Harrison, Caroline, Skylar and Jayden. He also leaves behind his sister Fran Nonnemacher, his brother Joseph Kobitz, and many nieces and nephews.  All of these he loved and touched deeply. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Zonia Kobitz, his parents Henry and Agnes Kobitz, his brother Henry Kobitz, Jr. and his sister Clara Kobitz Lister.

George was a dedicated father, photo enthusiast, and outdoorsman who particularly treasured spending time with his sons kayaking, camping, and fishing. He loved his family and instilled in his sons strong values that have served them well. He especially cherished his role as Papaw. He had a gleeful personality and always made people around him laugh. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home 75212 Hwy 437 Covington, Louisiana 70435  on Friday, April 22nd from 8:00am until time of funeral services at 9:00am. Burial will follow at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.
