Gavin Charles Ruiz passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the age of 15. He resided in Covington, LA. Survived by his loving family, Gavin is the son of Joey and Patricia Ruiz and the proud, big brother of Grayson Ruiz. Great grandson of the late Clyde Odum and Granny Grace Odum; Charles F. LaBiche Jr.; Gaston Andrew Champagne and Hilda DeHart Champagne; Clarence Thomas Ruiz and Rose Marie Ruiz. Survived by his great grandmother Mrs. Ann LaBiche, grandparents Stephen Ruiz and Bonnie Ruiz, Charles LaBiche III and Debra LaBiche; his aunt; Ashlie Boudreaux; and his uncle; Chad Ruiz (Jenny), and also many great aunts and uncles, cousins and extended family members. Gavin was a proud member of First Baptist Church of Covington where he enjoyed working on the tech team operating the lights, sound, and cameras. He was always ready to lend a hand and volunteered at Vacation Bible School as well as assisting with teaching Sunday School at Bridge Church in Madisonville. Gavin was also very active with the Talented Theater program at Covington High School and recently performed in the production of 1984 with his theatre family. He loved being on stage at the Playmakers Community Theater in Covington and after starring in Frank Levy's Summer Program's Robin Hood, he went on to be a counselor working to share his love of acting with children. Gavin was always willing to give of himself and asked nothing in return. His faith was in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He had a servant's heart, and lived by his motto “Be the kindest guy in the room”. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Covington Student Ministry, care of Gavin Ruiz, in order to send underprivileged students to church camps that Gavin loved.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service Thursday December 21, 2017 at 12:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 LA-1085, Covington, LA 70433. Visitation will begin 10:00 am until service time. Interment will be private.
