Gary Wayne Achee, 71, of Abita Springs went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary of 50 years, his son Bryan(Emily) and his grandsons Trevor and Nicholas. He leaves behind two sisters, Linda Harris and Adrianne Achee. Also missing him will be his brother-in-law Greg Lemons(Marilyn) and many loving nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his mother Muriel “Bozo” Achee his father Willie Achee, and his brother Greg Achee.
Gary was born in New Orleans on June 17, 1950. He lived in other places for short periods but Abita Springs was his home. He attended SLU and joined the Merchant Marines. He served in the United States Coast Guard and then came back to Abita. He served the town of Abita Springs in many roles including Fire Chief. He was a talented artist and the best sign man around. His passions included spending time with his family and motorcycling with his friends. He never met a stranger and often opened his home to people passing through. He also mentored many young artists.
Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Abita Springs on Friday Nov. 12. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm with Funeral Services at 12pm. Burial to follow at Abita Springs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the National Kidney Fund at www.kidney.org in Gary’s honor.
