Frank Girard

Frank Joseph Girard age 86 passed peacefully into the Hands of his Heavenly Father on February 26, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Frank was a veteran of World War ll who proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Navy. He was a loving husband to Lola Fontenot Girard father of Michael A. ( Mike ) Girard, grandfather to Lisa Girard Sansalone, Lauren Girard Duncan, Crystal Sharp Magrath, and Jared Cordel Sharp. Frank is survived by 6 great-grand children Brandon, Katie, Jayce, Landon, Channing, and Abigail, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father Louis ( Pops ) Girard and mother Sadie Korb Girard and 8 brothers and sisters, Louis ( Noot ), Eddie, Alfred, Lloyd, Roy, Gloria, Bevely, and Lois. Frank was the retired supervisor of Delta Playground where he founded the DELTA Boxing Club, home to many local regional and national amateur champion. He was also involved in many civic and charitable organizations.  After retirement he worked with his son at Original Shoe Service until its closure in 2005. He was a member of American Legion Post 350 and a parishioner of Our Lady of Divine Providence Church. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family. A celebration of life service will be held at Delta Playground 8301 West Metairie Blvd. Metairie, La. March 24th 2016 from 6pm to 8 pm . In lieu of flowers donations to the Diabetes or Heart Foundation or masses said in his honor.
