Frances Jacobs

November 17, 1936 — August 25, 2018

Frances Jane Jacobs of New Orleans, La. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, August 25th, 2018. She was born to the late Eugene and Clothilde Bourgeois on November 17th, 1936. Family and friends were most important to Frances.  A loving person who treated everyone with the utmost kindness and respect Frances encouraged all with her positive attitude and imparted important life lessons to those fortunate enough to have known her .You could say that she never met a stranger and showed love to everyone that she came into contact with. Her caring nature caused everyone who met her to be infected by her kindness, while also in awe at her unwavering wit and ability to make everyone laugh.  Frances lived truly emulating God’s golden rule- “Treat Others like You Want to Be Treated.” A devoted golf and football enthusiast she faithfully followed the PGA and there wasn’t a weekend during football season that you couldn’t find her cheering on her favorite teams with Notre Dame and the Saints being at the top of her list. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting blankets especially baby blankets for family, friends and neighbors, further exemplifying her selfless personality through all aspects of her life. Frances is survived by her husband of 64 years George, and her children Mary Jane Monroe (Art), and John Jacobs (Cindy). She is also survived by her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren who brought so much joy to her life, Monique, Brett, Madison Jayne, Jason, and Charlee Mae. As well Frances is survived by her brother Henry Bourgeois (Ameta) and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Morgan Bourgeois, and sister Leona Bednar. Family and friends are invited to a Mass celebrating Frances’s life that will be held on Saturday, September 8th at Christ Episcopal Chapel, 129 N. New Hampshire St., in Downtown Covington, La. The Service will begin at 10am with a reception following in the parish hall. Believing they were messages from God Himself, Frances had a strong affection for rainbows. In honor of this, please wear your favorite color of the rainbow to her service. “If roses grow in heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, Place them in my Mother’s arms, and tell her they’re from me. Tell her I love and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while. Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there’s an ache within my heart that will never go away.”
