Fay Marquez Miller, a lifelong resident of the Irish Channel, passed away on October 19th, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Irma Marquez. Beloved wife of the late Richard Miller. She was the beloved mother to Cynthia Cruse (Bobby), Joelle Buzbee (Carroll), the late Ricky Miller, and the late Karen Heigle (Keith). She was the grandmother of Brandy, Kandie, Hollie, Rebba, and the late TeJay Heigle, Casey and Paige Miller, and Brett Buzbee. She was the great grandmother of Toby Heigle-Olivier and Alyssa Heigle. Sister to Linda LeBoutillier (Bubba) and Connie Wahlen (Bobby). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her life was devoted to her entire family. She will be missed and loved by all, especially her caregiver of several years, Kelly Brandt. Kelly took mom for picnics at the Mandeville Lakefront and drove her around to look at the sights.
Fay loved flower gardening and raising African Violets. She wrote poems and short stories in her younger days, but she mostly loved caring for her family and teaching us everything we know from how to cook and organize, to having visions and dreams, to our morals and values, to selfless service, but mostly to love.
She was a member of the Women’s Guild and Brotherhood at Jackson Avenue Evangelical Church.
We would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice/ Carpenter House who made Mom’s final days so comfortable, beautiful and peaceful. In honor of her life, a memorial service will be held at Jackson Avenue Evangelical Church on October 30, 2023, 700 Jackson Avenue, New Orleans, La. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. with service to follow.
