Eva Louise Hellmers Earls, born on August 2, 1930, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, in her beloved hometown.
Eva was the daughter of the late Carl Edward Hellmers, Sr. and Carrie Broas Hellmers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Franklin Earls, and her brother, Carl Edward Hellmers, Jr. (Yvonne, dec.). Eva's memory will be honored by her beloved family, including her daughters, Eva Louise Tracy, and her husband Phil and Elisabeth Anne Pearse, and her husband Kevin; her son, Richard Forrest Earls, and his wife Phillipa; her brother, George Albert Hellmers (Bernie); and her grandchildren Madee (Evan), Forrest (Katheleen), Ranui (Emily), Emma, and Noah. Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Olivia, who will carry forward her spirit and love.
Eva’s time in college included being involved in the Women’s Business Sorority, Beta Sigma Phi. Throughout her life, she engaged in numerous hobbies and interests that brought her immense joy; she was particularly fond of singing as well as performing in plays and operas, showcasing her talents and passion for the arts. She enjoyed playing bingo, poker, and various board games, all of which she enjoyed with her family and friends. She also enjoyed creating her own beautiful pieces through arts and crafts.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on November 15, 2024, at the Basilica of St. Stephen, 1025 Napoleon Ave, New Orleans, LA 70115. Visitation is at 11:00 AM with services beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery is to follow.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Audubon Retirement Village for their kindness and loving care given to their mom. Eva Louise Earls will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
