Ernest Elias Jr.

On Monday, July 12, 2021, Ernest Albert Elias, Jr. passed away at the age of 70. Ernie, which his family and friends called him, was born on May 16, 1951 in New Orleans LA. His parents who preceded him in death, were Ernesto Alberto Elias and Nina Reed (Adams) Elias. He graduated from Holy Cross High School, where he excelled as an athlete. Ernie also had a love of music. He had a beautiful voice and could play the piano and guitar, as well. Later in his life he began to paint and we have those paintings to remind us of this latent talent. His sweet spirit and enduring smile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ernie married his teenage sweetheart, Phyllis Dietz, on June 7, 1974. Together they have four surviving children, Adam Mark Elias, Molly Catherine (Elias) Leimkuhler (John), Philip Paul Elias, Hayley Margaret (Elias) Doehler (Aaron). Preceded in death were his loving grandparents, Francisco & Luisa Sofia Rosales Duenas Castro and James Elbert & Esther (Reed) Adams. He is survived by his six siblings and nine grandchildren. Siblings: Pamela (Elias) Welsh (Jeffrey), Rhonda Elias, Vanessa Elias, Marcus Frank Elias (Cynthia), Marissa (Elias) Guillory, and Richard Alan Elias (Kerri). Grandchildren: Caleb Adam Elias, Mallory Renee Leimkuhler, Madeleine Adele Leimkuhler, Ruth Catherine Fowler, Samuel Joseph Leimkuhler, Lydia Allain Elias, Leah Beth Elias, Rocky Aaron Doehler and Sunny Quinn Doehler.

The memorial service will be held at Lakeshore Church, 15261 Brewster Road, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday July 24th. Visitation with the family from 9:30-10:30. Service starting at 10:30 am.
