Emily Christine Cercena (Huezo), 29, Marrero, Louisiana, joined the eternal feast on October 29, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. She was the beautiful bride of Antonio Cercena, mother of Baby Cercena, devoted daughter of Tirsa (Huezo) and William Warner and Milovan Tellez, beloved sister of Douglas Huezo, Elisa Warner, Seth Tellez, Milovan Tellez, and Caius Tellez, granddaughter, niece, cousin, godmother and friend to so many. Emily was known for her deep faith; a kind and gentle nature; a sense of style like none other; a fluidity on the dance floor; a tres leches cake that made you close your eyes with every bite; an ability to capture the beauty in everyone and everything she photographed; and a heart bursting with love. She had a full bodied, boisterous laugh that made you want to be a part of whatever she was enjoying. After being diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, Emily soldiered on battling this terrible illness until the end. Despite her suffering, Emily remained a steadfast witness to her strong Catholic faith. Visitors poured in and out after Emily’s diagnosis to spend time with her. Bouts of laughter were punctuated by tears as they reminisced over their shared adventures. It brought much joy to her family to know how much she was loved and how much she had touched the lives of so many as their paths intersected. Her family is humbled and ever thankful for the outpouring of support, prayers, donations, kind words, and meals provided by so many. Emily may not have been able to thank you personally, but please know that she prayed a 54-day rosary novena in thanksgiving for all of you. We will continue to thank God for all of you. Her family would like to thank the many healthcare personnel that cared for her, in particular, Dr. Joseph Keen and Dr. Ashley Staton. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on November 6, 2018 at Bagnell Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road (Hwy 437), Covington, LA 70435, at 12:00 p.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA 70457.
