Elmire Hancock Johns went peacefully to The Lord in Covington, Louisiana on July 30, 2018 at the age of 96. She is survived by her husband of 76 years, Foster Matthew Johns, Jr. She was born in New Orleans to Elmire Josephine Janin and Charles Walker Hancock, Sr. Her brother was Charles Walker Hancock, Jr. (Mary Tallon). All are deceased. She and her husband have two children, Foster (Duke) Matthew Johns, III (J.J.) and Lissa Johns Noel (Randall Deane). She is also survived by five grandchildren, Sarah Jane Johns, Elizabeth Anne Johns, Foster Matthew Johns, IV, Lauren Noel Jones (Walt) and Randall Walker Noel (Allison). They have three great grandsons; Parke and William Jones and Walker Noel. She requested to dispense with a list of associations, clubs and accolades. She wanted to be remembered as a loving Wife, Mother and Friend. Her life is a beautiful testament to her extraordinary devotion in these roles, and her legacy is hearts and lives impacted for good. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Christwood Retirement Community, 100 Christwood Blvd., Covington, Louisiana on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. The family greatly appreciates your many thoughts, prayers and other expressions of love during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Christwood Employee Fund, St. Tammany Hospice or the charity of your choice.
