Ellen Towner, a beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 75. Born in Vienna, Austria, on August 11, 1949, Ellen led a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family and faith.
Ellen was a passionate cook and a gracious hostess. Her family and friends fondly remember her for the warmth she created around the dining table. Holiday gatherings, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, were her special occasions, where she displayed her culinary talents with beautiful spreads that brought joy to all who gathered. Every Sunday, she hosted a family dinner after church, a cherished tradition where loved ones came together to share stories. In her garden, Ellen nurtured a plethora of vibrant roses as well as vegetables alongside her husband, Richard, and it was there that she found solace.
A committed Christian, Ellen's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She lived her beliefs with sincerity, embodying the qualities of compassion and kindness. Above all, she was a faithful Christian, loving wife, mother and friend.
Ellen is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Towner; her loving sons, Brian Wright (Barbara), Troy Wade Wright (Melissa Eshleman), Raymond Yockey (Brooklyn Heap), and Andy Yockey (Valerie Dyson); daughters; Jamie Gammage (Joe) and Heidi Serdula (Steve); and siblings, Ed Weatherly (Mickey), G.P. Weatherly (Linda), Nelda Rhame, Sammy Clifton (Linda), Adelle Skillern (Bobby), Diane Winberg, Dan Clifton (Sharon), and Mike Clifton (Cecilia). Ellen also leaves behind numerous friends touched by her generous spirit and warm heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon P. Weatherly and Eva Weatherly, along with her stepmother, Ada Vae Hartt Weatherly, and her brother, Tony Clifton.
Ellen’s life will be celebrated at the Chapel of First Baptist Church in Covington, Louisiana. Visitation will take place on November 21, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial to Follow in the Eternal Rest Cemetery 75212 Hwy 437 Covington, Louisiana 70435.
The legacy of Ellen Towner will forever echo in the hearts of all who knew her. Her loving spirit and unwavering faith remain an inspiration, and though she has departed from this earthly realm, her memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched.
