Ellen Hoover Lemoine of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2017 at the age of 70.

Ellen was born in New Orleans, LA, the second of four children.  She is survived by two sisters Michelle McElwee and Vivian Pierson. Ellen is preceded in death by her parents Morgan and Inez Hoover and brother, Morgan Hoover, Jr. of Chalmette, LA.

Ellen was born on October 22, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated from Chalmette High School in 1964.  Ellen married Anthony (Tony) Lemoine, Jr., her high school sweetheart, on October 24, 1964. Tony and Ellen were married for 40 years.  Tony and Ellen had 5 children together (4 daughters and a son).  Nicole (Greg) Comeaux, Cherise (Shaun) Meany, Andree (Rodney) Schaubhut, Yvette (Michael) Baumuller and Glenn (Jessica) Lemoine.  Ellen is affectionately known as “Mere” to her grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob and Elizabeth Comeaux; Evan Meany; Rodney and Ben Schaubhut; and Luke, Julian and Ellyse Lemoine.

In addition to being a loving mother and “Mere”, Ellen was a dedicated professional, working over 30 years at Methodist Hospital in New Orleans in various capacities until Katrina hit in 2005.

Ellen possessed many wonderful qualities.  She was bright, gregarious, and a good listener. She loved people and saw the best in them. Ellen will be most remembered for her “joie de vivre” and love of a good time.  “Laissez les bons temps rouler” (let the good times roll) was an expression Ellen often used when gathering with friends and family.
