On Valentine’s Day, heaven gained an angel with an enormous heart. Elizabeth Lorraine Samuel Sheehan Hoffmann passed away February 14, 2025, after a courageous battle against cancer. Often called Liz or Libby, she was born in New Orleans on Father’s Day, June 21, 1953, to Jac Henry Samuel Sr. and Leonie Elizabeth Chopin Samuel, their first daughter after three sons.
She was known for her giving heart, her infectious smile, and her love she exuberated everywhere she went. Liz spent most of her career as a medical office manager and earned her public notary certification. She excelled at crafting pottery, expanding this skill into Libby D’s Pottery and Mardi Gras Mud. She enjoyed sewing and loved her “Sister Sew Dates” with her sister and sister-in-law.
Liz will be painfully missed by her family and her countless friends. Liz is survived by her sister, Leonie (“Lee”) Samuel Ferriss, her brother-in-law Tom Ferriss III, her sister-in-law Peggy Bianchi, her niece Michelle Samuel, her nephews, Scott (Erin) Samuel, Lenny (Melissa) Samuel, Thomas (Katie) Ferriss IV, and Jackson (Bonnie) Ferriss, her granddaughter Nicole Stewart and grandson Nick Hildebrandt along with 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jac Henry Samuel, Jr., Leonard Samuel, Roger Lloyd Samuel and her son, Robert (“Robey”) Michael Sheehan.
Liz will be interred with her parents at Lake Lawn cemetery.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
