Violet, Louisiana - Eldon James Daigrepont Sr., a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away on September 4, 2023, at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 9, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Eldon was a Master Carpenter with the Carpenters Union and served with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was also a dedicated member of the International Shotokan Karate Federation reaching Level 8. With an unwavering dedication to his craft and a passion for service, Eldon made an indelible mark in his community.

Eldon's journey began in Kenner, Louisiana where he learned the value of hard work and determination from an early age. As he grew older, Eldon channeled this work ethic into his carpentry career. His skill and craftsmanship were unmatched, earning him admiration and respect among peers and clients alike. Eldon leaves behind a legacy of exceptional workmanship that will be remembered by all those who were fortunate enough to witness it.

Beyond his professional achievements, Eldon had an adventurous spirit that knew no bounds. He was a true go-getter who thrived on taking on new challenges. Before his illness, Eldon even obtained an airplane pilot license—a testament to his thirst for knowledge and zest for life. When not tackling ambitious projects or pursuing new endeavors, he found solace in simpler pleasures such as feeding birds and riding his trusty lawn mower through the vast landscapes of his imagination.

Throughout his life, Eldon cherished moments spent with family and friends above all else. His proudest accomplishments were not measured in accolades or material possessions but in the love and relationships he cultivated. He was a pillar of strength for his wife Linda Boudreaux Daigrepont and leaves behind cherished memories for her to hold onto. Eldon was also a doting grandfather to Serigo Diaz of Springfield, La, Shiloh Diaz also of Springfield, La, Devon C. Songy (Samantha) of Livingston, La , Seth J. Songy (Mary)  of Ponchatoula, La, Alexis N. Songy of Lacombe, La, Isabelle P. Songy of Lacombe, La. and Madelynn G. Songy of Lacombe, La. His great-grandchildren Carter S. Songy, Haylee Marie Songy, and Sloe Songy brought immense joy to his life.

 He is also survived by his brothers Kenneth J. Daigrepont (Ann) of Houston, Tx, Larry J. Daigrepont (Sandra) of Metairie, La , sister Paula Ann Daigrepont of Lafayette, La, and Juanita Kreamer (Kevin) of Gulfport, Ms.

A life well-lived deserves to be celebrated, and so we gather to honor Eldon's memory with a series of services. The visitation will take place on September 20, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church located at 72040 Maple St in Abita Springs, LA.

The funeral service will follow at the same location from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM as we pay our last respects and bid farewell to a remarkable individual who touched the lives of so many.

We will then proceed to Abita Spring Cemetery located at 22166 12th St in Abita Springs, LA for the burial ceremony which will take place after the services.

Eldon's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May we remember him for his unwavering dedication to his craft, his pioneering spirit, and above all, his boundless love for family and friends.
