Edward Sidney Bopp, Jr., age 84, born on November 28, 1930, and died peacefully at home on September 16, 2015. He was born in New Orleans and resided most of his life in St. Bernard Parish. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Planche Bopp for 63 years, and is survived by his five children: Sydney Bopp Perez (Leander III), Dr. Felix Planche Bopp (Barbara), Captain Edward Michael Bopp (Susan), Eric August Bopp, ESQ. (Lisa), and Kelly Bopp Weiss (Greg). He had two sister-in-laws Andree Planche, and Theresa Bopp and preceded in death by his brothers, Conrad William Bopp and Charles John Bopp. He was the son of the late Edward Sidney Bopp and Eunice Demoulette Bopp. He is survived by thirteen grandchildren: Kelly Perez Dabezies (Olivier "Cle'"), Captain Leander Henry Perez, IV, Amber Lynn Bopp, Margaret Bopp Kuykendall (Frederick), Caitlin Weiss, Eric August Bopp, Jr., Samantha Winfield Bopp, Felix Schumann Bopp, Bailey Planche Bopp, Gabrielle Lee Bopp, Sydney Bopp Weiss, Jacob Michael Bopp, and Kylie Bopp Weiss, and four great grandchildren: Olivier Clement and Collins Perez Dabezies, and Genevieve McKinnon and Frederick Kuykendall,V and many numerous nieces and nephews.
He graduated from the University of Mississippi (Pharmacy B. R. Ph.), Loyola University (Juris Doctor, J.D.), American Institute of Banking, and was an adjunct Professor at Xavier University and Northeastern University of Pharmacy Schools. He was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, President of the Louisiana State Board of Education (BESE), Vice-President of St. Bernard Bank and Trust Co., Board of Administrations of Louisiana Charity Hospital of New Orleans, Trustee for the National Association of State Board of Education, Louisiana Board of Regents, Board Member of Tulane Medical Center, Board Member of Crimestoppers, President of the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, Board Chairman of Holy Cross, Fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation, Board member of Nunez Community College, and General Counsel for Louisiana State Board of Pharmacy. He served in the United States Naval Reserve. He was an owner of St. Bernard Drugs, Albert & Wegman Drugs, Contesta Apartments and Bopp Law Corporation. He served on numerous other Boards and was a member of several organizations.
His family is grateful to his staff of loving caretakers, Hospice Association, and his wonderful Doctors and Medical Staff.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 4640 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery # 2, Canal Street, New Orleans, LA.
