Eddie was raised in Sioux City Iowa. He graduated from North High school where he wrestled and played the Tuba. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy, becoming a Hull Technician (HT). While stationed onboard the USS McKee (AS-41), homeported in San Diego CA, he met his soulmate, Deanne. During his 5 years in the U.S. Navy, he accelerated in his rate and attained Hull Technician 2nd class petty officer. Eddie chose to leave the U.S. Navy to ensure he and his wife would always be together. The were married over 36 years devoted to each other. He was a Master Welder/Fabricator for over 35 years, which is a job he loved.

He had numerous activities all his life. Whether it was BMX, skateboarding, motorcycles, bowling, go-karting (which would exceed over 120 mph), and his race car IMCA Modified. His highlights were winning the championship for go-karting one year and building his IMCA Modified race car, from an old El Camino, from the bottom up in his garage (which his wife loved). He was an avid bowler for many years. He has scored 3 perfect games (with two of them back-to-back).

Thru the years Eddie has encouraged and mentored many youths in BMX, MX, Softball, Cross Country, Archery, Bowling, and numerous other activities. A youth he mentored qualified for the Loretta Lynn's Amateur National Motocross Champtionship Race in TN for which he was very proud of. He was a big supporter of sports at Picayune Memorial High School.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife Deanne and two precious daughters Shelly and Mary. His mother & stepfather Keith & Carolyn Heiner, sister Rox Anna Bernard (Renae), numerous nieces and nephews and dearest friends Scott Dilley, Chad Fischer, Raymond Hamrick and James & Tammy Persinger. He is preceded in death by his father Edward Thompson and his sister Stephanie Roberts.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday March 29, 2025, at Mt Calvary Baptist Church, 310 Mitchell St, Picayune MS. Visitation is 11:00-12:00 and Service will begin at 12:00. A luncheon will be served after the service.

In honor of Eddie, the family is requesting for the guys to wear a Hawaiian shirt and jeans (women can too if desired).

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made in his honor to a charity of your choice.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith". (2 Timothy 4:7)
