Duane Herbert
March 5, 1943 — December 9, 2014
Duane Key Herbert passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, at the age of 71. Duane was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Horace and Edith Herbert. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer from the United States Coast Guard after 20 years of service. He went on to teach Sea School, issuing captain’s licenses for the charter boat captains. Duane then decided to go back to school where he earned his teaching degree. He taught Special Education for many years in Chalmette, La prior to his retirement.
Duane is survived by his wife, Betty Moran Herbert; his sisters, Glenda Hibbets and Donna Turner; his children, Donald Herbert, Gail Herbert, and Sherie Boudreaux; and his grandchildren, Karley, Avery, Justin, Mackenzee and Garrett.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA 70435 on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11:00 am. Visitation from 9:30 am until service time.
