Douglas Culver Ellis, of Covington, LA, passed away on January 21, 2025. He was born on April 2, 1954, in New Orleans, LA.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Hussey Ellis, and their two children, Jonathan Frederick Ellis and Averell Ellis Baudier (Blake). He was the adoring grandfather of Betty Averell Baudier. He is also survived by his father, Frederick Stephen Ellis, and his wife, Haydee Ellis; sister-in-law Kathleen McFadden; and nephews Ian and Colin Ellis. His mother, Betty Dahlberg Ellis, and his brother, Frederick Stephen Ellis II, preceded him in death.
Doug attended high school at St. Paul’s School and received his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University Law. While at LSU, Doug, a passionate music lover, co-founded the Louisiana Country Music Jamboree. A lifelong resident of Covington, LA, he was an active member of his community, volunteering at the Youth Service Bureau with the Chef Soiree, a youth sports coach with the Covington Recreation Department, and Co-Chair of the construction of the Bogue Falaya Community Playground, among many other accolades. Friends remember Doug raising a glass, searching for that perfect piece of music to share, laughing while telling a story in the middle of weaving and bobbing around the kitchen while putting the finishing touches on a delicious dish. Doug embraced life with such gusto, and he will be remembered with great joy by all who loved him.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. St. Benedict Catholic Church 20370 Smith Rd., Covington, LA 70435
