Dolores Marie Monlezun Schech, 94, of Covington passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. She was born on May 29, 1927, in Covington, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 72 years, Willo Marvin Schech, Sr. She was the loving mother of 7 children: Willo Marvin, Jr. (Jenefer), Kathryn S. Soulier, Carolyn S. Rolling (Earl), Theresa S. Day (Bill), Alicia S. Vincent (Robert), April S. Foret (Tim), Mary S. Spell (Todd).

She is also survived by her 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents Theophile Joseph Monlezun, Sr. and Edna Glockner Monlezun and her siblings Victor, Ruth M. Duet, Lucie M. Jenkins, and Robert, Sr.

She is survived by her siblings Beverly M. Richardson Kiefer, Theophile Joseph (Buck) Monlezun, and Roger Monlezun, Sr.

Together with Willo, they created and operated Schech’s Taxi Service successfully for 65 years. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter Catholic Church and a Kaycette. She was a recipient of the St. Louis Medal.  Dolores was a president of the St. Peter Parish Council and the first female lector at St. Peter Church.

She was a devoted wife who loved Willo passionately and completely. She was a humble Christian woman who cherished her family and was a true servant of the Lord. Her unselfish thoughtfulness and kindness will be remembered by all who knew her. Her Thursday night hamburgers, Holiday Schech Fudge, Schech cakes, and Sunday lunches will go down in history. She never turned away anyone who needed help whether it was financial or just sage advice.

Truly, she will be missed by all.

Services will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church on Jefferson Avenue, Covington, Louisiana on Thursday, June 24, 2021. Visitation starts at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:30a.m.

Interment to follow at Garden of Pines Mausoleum, North Columbia Street in Covington, Louisiana.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church Building Fund.
