Darlene Slaughter Monju passed away June 19, 2022, at the young age of 72 surrounded by her loving family and close friends. Darlene was a resident of Covington and a native of New Orleans. She leaves behind to cherish and share her memories Husband Louis A Monju Jr; Children Gina Duncan (Kevin) Cherie Pierre (Michael) Ashlee Monju (Wade)Brandon Monju (Norma); Grandchildren Ethan, Nicholas, Michael, Larry Jr, Jade; Brother Gary (Liane), Sister Debbie, Brother John (Lorie); Many nieces, nephews, and friends that became family. Darlene is preceded in death by Father Walter Slaughter; Mother Estelle Slaughter and Grandson Landyn Blades.
Darlene loved to travel, and spend time with family and friends; especially drinking cosmos with Dennis and Susan along with watching Wheel of Fortune. She was a devoted Catholic that loved unconditionally, always forgave, sacrificed for loved ones, and brightened up the day with her infectious laugh. During her journey in life, she was a 20-year affiliate of the New Orleans Fair Grounds Kitchen Management. In 1997, Darlene and her husband moved to Covington. She worked with Winter's Title and continued onto St. Joseph Abby.

A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Abby located by the Nitches on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 10:00 am.
