Danielle Fournier-Marino died peacefully on Saturday December 2nd at her home in Madisonville LA after a valiant seven-year battle with cancer at the age of 62. Danielle was born in Kenner, LA on January 19, 1955, but spent the majority of the next four decades as a resident of Metairie, LA. She was a 1974 graduate of Grace King High School and as a 50-year-old in 2005, received a B.A. in Business from the University of Phoenix. In 1974, Dani began a 21-year career with McDermott International in New Orleans. From there Danielle served as an administrator with Jefferson Parish Performing Arts, Entergy/SAIC, The Southern Surgical Hospital, as an office manager/sales position with Jennifer Rice Reality and Stevie Mack Latter & Blum Realtors, the two highest grossing real estate firms on the Northshore. In 2010, Danielle along with her mother, three sisters and niece founded Chemo Beanies, LLC, a company that manufactured stylish headwear for women who have experienced hair loss due to Chemotherapy. Since the company moved it distribution center to California in 2015, Danielle has worked in sales with Real Estate Resource Group, LLC, as well as a sales representative with Chico’s, a nationally recognized women’s clothing & accessories store. Aside from her family, a seemingly innumerable number of friends and most importantly her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Danielle had a life-long love affair with Musical Theatre and her beloved New Orleans Saints. She was there on September 17th, 1967, to watch John Gilliam return the teams’ opening kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown verses the Los Angeles Rams as well as the team’s Super Bowl 44 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on February 7, 2010.
Danielle is survived by her parents, Patricia (Manning) 85 and Roland Fournier 87; her husband Tom Marino, coincidently a long-time personnel scout with the Saints; step children Melissa and Tommy Marino, both of Raleigh, NC; sisters Shelly, husband Pascal (McGoey) of Covington; Rochelle Fournier, husband Tom (Klamer) MD of St Simon Island, GA; Angelle, husband, Anthony (Albright) MD of Covington, LA; brothers Mark “Tim” Fournier, wife Natalie (Bullock) of Madison, MS; Stephen, wife Monica (Gravois) of Metairie, LA; Lawrence Marino, wife Leslie (Heyel) of Savannah, GA; Kenneth Marino, wife Kim (Nguyen) of Waltham, MA, 14 nieces & nephews, most of whom considered Danielle their second mother and 17 great nieces & nephews.
On behalf of my late wife, her immediate and extended families, in-laws and myself (Tom Marino), I would like to take this opportunity to thank all her faithful friends, acquaintances, wonderful caring neighbors, former classmates, relatives, co-workers, doctors, nurses, aids, medical technicians, home health providers, her Wednesday bible study group, eucharistic ministers, clergy, spiritual advisors, Passages Hospice, the staffs at Bagnell Funeral Home, Lake Lawn Cemetery, the infusion technicians from Mary Bird Perkins, medical staffs from St Tammany, M.D. Anderson and Sloan Kettering Hospital and in particular Donna, Melissa, Mary Beth, Betsy, Sister Dolce Marie and medical advocate extraordinaire Denise Gutnisky.
Visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on December 9 at St Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary’s Street, Madisonville, LA 70447 followed by a funeral Mass with burial at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 to follow.
