Dana Charles Snider, a resident of Covington, LA, passed away peacefully at his home on January 21, 2024. He was born on July 16, 1945 in Madisonville, LA. to Herrle and Marguerite Snider. He was a loving husband to Katherine Rogers Snider. He was the stepfather of Curtis Reed, III (Ashley), and was a loving “Pawpaw” to Kylie, Maddie, Brayden, and Beau Reed, and Blake Retif (Tori) and Anson Retif. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Perrilloux (Irvin) and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard (Dickie) Snider and Bob Snider, his sister-in-law Gail Snider, and his former wife, Linda Weir Snider, and her daughter, Andrea English.
Dana graduated from Covington High in 1963 and received a degree from SLU in 1969. Following graduation, he was a reservist in the U.S. Marine Corps for 8 years. He held a wide range of jobs during his lifetime, using his various skills gained from his military service, education, and experience.
He was a gentle man who loved to share the Gospel with many through his book, A Partial Representation of the Word of God, which was a compilation of his paintings of the Old and New Testament. He loved his New Zion church family and Sunday School class. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting and writing.
Visitation will be at New Zion Baptist Church 17387 New Zion Church Road, Covington, Louisiana 70435 on Monday, January 29, from 10AM until the service time which will be at 12 noon. Interment will follow the service in the New Zion Church Cemetery 17387 New Zion Church Road, Covington, Louisiana 70435.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Tammany Hospital Hospice or to New Zion Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank St. Tammany Parish Hospital Hospice, especially Dana’s primary nurse, Sandy, and his aide, Tawani, for their compassionate care and love that provided Dana such a better quality of life during their time with him.
