Daisy Quintanilla Simoneaux passed away on Wednesday, March 9th at her daughter’s Folsom home. She was a former resident of Madisonville. Born in Diriamba, Nicaragua on March 6, 1930, She came to the United States in 1946 at the age of 16 to attend school. She later became a U.S citizen.
Her love for dancing led her to the love of her life, Ira “Hotsy” Simoneaux. They celebrated their love together for 68 years before his passing in 2018. She cherished her big family of 5 children, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She also loved her many nieces and nephews in the United States and in Nicaragua.
Daisy touched many lives with her kindness. She loved family gatherings, gardening, crocheting, watching LSU and Saints games and adored Elvis.
She is the beloved wife of the late Ira Simoneaux and the cherished mother of Gail “Sue” Organ (Jimmy), Jimmy Simoneaux (Shirley), Iris “Lulu” Vacante (Andrew), Rose Mobley (Ricky), Jeanette Buras Duthu (David) and mother-in-law of the late Dominic Buras.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ramon Quintanilla and Angela Quintanilla Gonzales and siblings Esperanza “Marie” Chimento, Inez Parrales, and Raul, Oscar, Ramon “Muncho” Quintanilla.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Thursday, March 17, 2022 in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home 75212 Hwy 437 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
