Daisy Lynn Bourgeois, age 83, of Slidell, LA entered peacefully into the arms of our Lord on September 19, 2023 surrounded by her family at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Valenza and Mayola Oser, and stepfather George Oser.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Robert (Bob) E. Bourgeois, Jr., her daughters, Karen Cox, (Mike), Trudy Bourgeois, Shelli Vinturella, (Gary), Bobbi Lowe, (Tony); and her grandchildren, Amy Leasman, (Joe), Ashlie Figueroa, (Rolando), Stevie Marie Ramos, (Ruben), Brandon Lowe, (Whitney), Nicholas Lowe, (Sabrina) – all of whom knew her as ‘Mamaw’ - and her 12 great grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as ‘Mimi’.
In the 83 years we were blessed with her presence, she was known by many names – Mom, Mamaw and Mimi – but mostly just Lynn. When she wasn’t at home entertaining family and friends, or stressing out over her sometimes frustrating Saints, she enjoyed traveling with ‘Bobby’ to Europe, Canada, Hawaii and Egypt, and her favorite destination - the place they visited most – Paris, France.
Although Lynn was a native New Orleanian, she was a proud resident of Slidell for over 40 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she and Bob faithfully led the Divine Mercy Ministry. She was a Child of God recipient of the St. Louis Medallion, and along with Bob, was the originator of the Ministry.
Lynn was also a hard worker. She and her husband were the owners of Bo-Lyn Interiors, a custom home interior store in Lakeview for many years. She also worked at House of Tux in Slidell, and was secretary at Lamarque Dodge fleet department until her retirement in 2004.
Lynn had many loves in her life, among them…dancing with Bob to all types of music, watching game shows or Saints games with friends and family, and holiday celebrations, including the annual Christmas tree decorating party.
But her greatest love by far was her family…husband, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her godchild Stanley Mascair. Everyone who knew Lynn loved Lynn, and she loved them back. She was a loyal friend, and a caring wife and mother, who always put her own needs behind those she loved. And she loved all of us equally, openly, and with a passion that will carry us through the coming days without her. We will all miss her kindness, her sense of humor, her passion for life and her warm hugs. She leaves a legacy so bright that even her loss can’t possibly dim it.
The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for and served her every need up until the moment of her passing. A special mention goes to Enhabit Hospice, for all they did to comfort her and ensure that her final moments were peaceful. Thanks to Zita Whitmarsh and Rachel McLellan for being selfless caregivers – not only for Lynn, but for Bob as well. And of course, to Bobbi Lowe, whose help and compassion was sincerely appreciated throughout the entire course of her illness.
Also, thanks to all of Lynn’s co-workers, family and friends – especially Violet Mohr, her lifelong friend whom she loved like a sister – who took the time to visit her in her final days. You provided care, love, joy and comfort at a time when she needed it most.
