Cynthia Kay Barbara

d. July 9, 2021

Cynthia Kay McManus Barbara went to her eternal home with Jesus on July 9, 2021 at 4:26 am.  She was at home surrounded by her family.  She has been a lifelong resident of Louisiana.  Her church family is First Baptist Church of Folsom in Folsom, Louisiana.  Born in June 1962, beloved daughter of Ann Stewart McManus and preceded in death by her father Gerald Lance McManus.  Cherished wife to her devoted husband of 42 years, Mark Barbara and loving mother of Amy Barbara Ruiz and Mario Ruiz.  Grammy to her treasured grandson Jacob Ruiz.   Much loved sister to Michelle McManus Zara, Albert Zara, Margie Stewart Langmead and Tom Langmead. She adored her nieces and nephews Jessica Zara, Elizabeth Langmead, Anthony Zara, Tom Langmead, III, and Cameron Dembrun.   Dearest “sister” of Lisa Tarto and Jennifer Womack.   Dearest friend to her precious caregiver Angelita Thompson. Cindy is survived by so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that she loved dearly.

Cindy gave her life to the Lord and loved Him with all of heart.  She wanted everyone to know the all-consuming love and saving grace of Jesus.  She gave her life to serving Jesus and others in so many ways.  Her ministry work along her journey included door to door sharing, nursery worker, children’s church, children’s choir, youth ministry, women’s ministry, bible studies, mission trips, and most recently senior ministry with C.O.A.S.T.

Cindy was diagnosed with ALS ten years ago.  As the seasons of her life changed, her way of serving and ministry changed, but never waned. Through this journey she allowed God to use her in any and every way He presented her with.  While the serving and ministry may have looked different at times, it was the same passion and love of Jesus that shined through.  She never missed an opportunity to share the gospel, provide for a need, listen, and pray.  She developed relationships with everyone.  God anointed and filled her with His Spirit to serve, teach, and mentor.  She was obedient to God’s calling and served with a grateful and willing heart.   She was bold, direct, full of grace, forgiving, giving, and above all, loving!

Cindy saw God’s splendor in all things He created, people, animals, plants, and flowers.  While people were her greatest passion, she loved beholding all that God created in the garden.  Her garden was full of herbs, flowers, birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and lizards. The garden was a special place she spoke with God.

The family would like to give their sincere thanks to the Team Gleason Foundation for the generous support they have provided.  This support would not be possible without the donations the Team Gleason Foundation receives.
