Cynthia Wright, age 74, was a loving mother to her two children, Gwendolyn and Jeremy, dedicated wife to her husband, Harold, and devoted grandmother to her four grandchildren; Julio III, Devin, Isabella and Aubry. Cynthia passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 6th with her husband by her side.
Cynthia was born in 1948 in Kentucky to parents Lt. Col. Rocco F. Bonura, Sr. and Yvonne Gloria Bonura, and two younger siblings, Rocco, Jr and Darryl. Being born into a military family afforded Cynthia the opportunity to travel and experience the world throughout her youth.
Cynthia was a loving and caring woman to her family and friends and was a devoted and faithful servant in her church. She touched the lives of many with her love and passion for Christ. Cynthia was happily married to her husband, Harold, her partner in life, for 53 years at the time of her death. As a mother, she was loving and devoted, as a grandmother, affectionate and tender-hearted, and as a teacher, attentive and compassionate. Her passion and calling in life was being a teacher to which she was successfully for 45 years. More specifically, a teacher to special needs children who also specialized in sign language for the deaf/blind. Teaching children was her life and brought her so much joy. She was selfless and always put the needs of others first. She had a beautiful soul that made an impact in the lives of all who came to know her, both young and old.
Besides spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, Cynthia dedicated her time to teaching and ministering to children. The legacy she leaves behind not only positively impacted the lives of many children, but also built a legacy of character and faith. Legacy is not leaving something for someone, but rather it’s leaving something in someone. Cynthia leaves behind a legacy of Christians, both young and old. She influenced people every day by what she said and did, how she lived, taught and served. She lived an exemplary life and is an inspiration to us all.
While she will be greatly missed by her family, friends and students, we take comfort in knowing she is in her Heavenly home now young and beautiful, dancing and rejoicing just as she was here on Earth. “Well done, good and faithful servant. Well done.”
