Cynthia Chong

June 6, 1955 — March 27, 2022

Chalmette

Cynthia (Cindy) Caron Chong passed away peacefully at home in Chalmette early Sunday morning March 27th, 2022 at the age of 66. Cindy was the daughter of the late Rodney J Caron and Beverley W Caron; proud mother of Joshua Castanedo and Chelsea Messa Tedesco (Michael); adoring grandmother to Justin Castanedo and Tate Tedesco; loving sister to Kathlyn C. Reichert (Allan), Kirk Louis Caron, the late Rodney "Buddy/Chuckie" Caron, and the late Susan C. Salles; best friend to Jill Adams. She will also be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends that were like family.

Cindy made a career as a talented hairdresser who loved her clients as much as she loved her profession. She was lucky to work alongside her baby sister Susie where they worked and laughed equally as hard. She was passionate about gardening and could bring just about anything back to life with her green thumb and nurturing touch. She loved taking care of others and would never turn away a person (or animal) in need even if it meant she would go without. She enjoyed cooking and making up recipes that somehow always turned out delicious. She had a big imagination and her made up bedtime stories and songs will be recited to her grandsons every day in her memory. Cindy was a strong smart beautiful woman with a resilient spirit. She was honest, wise and loved fiercely. She was a devoted daughter, a loving sister, an encouraging mother, a gloating grandmother, and a loyal supportive friend. She was ours, and we will miss her every day.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of her life at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church at 2320 Paris Road in Chalmette, Louisiana on Saturday April 23, 2022 beginning at 10 am. A funeral mass will continue at 11am at the same location. She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in her name.
