Charles Albert “Chuck” Wagner, Sr. passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Slidell, Louisiana, on July 11, 2023 at the age of 95. Chuck was born in New Orleans on December 26, 1927. He lived in New Orleans until after Hurricane Katrina, when he moved to Metairie, and then recently to Eden Isles. He was predeceased by his loving and still greatly missed wife Ethma Dantagnan Wagner, parents George Wagner Sr and Gladys Toups Wagner, brother George Wagner Jr, and sisters Betty, Honey, and Dottie. Survived by his children Chuck Jr, Cyndi, Lance (Mary) and Stephanie (Charlie) also several nieces and nephews, and close family friend Karen Strecker. After graduating, Chuck enlisted in the United States Air Force, and when his stint in the Air Force was over, he joined the United States Marine Corp for the Korean War. He then became a New Orleans firefighter retiring as a captain after 41 years of service.Chuck was a distinguished Free Mason and Shriner for for the majority of his adult life, and a respected member of Salem Church.
Everyone knew Chuck as a kind and giving man, who didn’t know how to say no whenever anyone needed anything.
He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, and he was always there for them. Chuck will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
