Cathy Lynn LaFrance, was born August 23, 1959 in New Orleans. She passed  away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 4, 2024 after a long battle with  multiple chronic illnesses.  

Cathy is survived by her loving Father, Leo Paul LaFrance, Jr., her brother Leo P.  LaFrance, III, her sisters, Stephanie LaFrance Reed, Joel LaFrance Swindler  (Gary), Victoria LaFrance Kennedy (Tom) and Anna LaFrance. She leaves behind  her Aunt Hollie LaFrance and Uncle Donald LaFrance along with many nieces,  nephews, cousins, extended family members and loyal friends, Chinie, Darlene  Denise and Trina. Cathy was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Katherine  LaFrance, mother Anna Lala LaFrance and brother-in-law Michael Reed.  

Cathy was a native of New Orleans. She loved living in the city. After hurricane  Katrina she moved to the North Shore and resided in Covington, Louisiana. She  graduated from Grace King High School in 1977. She enlisted in the United States  Navy in 1982 to 1986 based in Puerto Rico as a Flight Writer with Navy Air  Logistics, and then served two years as a Navy reservist.  

After serving her country, Cathy spent many years helping her father in the family  business “Gentilly Novelty Company”. Then she went on to join the International  Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Motion Picture Studio Mechanics -  Local 48. She worked on Television shows such as HBO’s Treme and films such  as Ray, Deja Vu, and Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons and many others.  

Interment will be held at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell,  Louisiana on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 9:00 am. Funeral arrangements by Bagnell & Son Funeral Home.  

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Cathy’s memory to North Shore  Humane Society in Covington, Louisiana. Cathy was a dog rescue mom and loved  her chihuahua, Tela. It broke her heart when she could no longer care for her, due  to her health issues.
