Carolyn Poynter

Carolyn Helen Pack Poynter, the daughter of Frank and Theresa Pack, originally from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away at the age of 69 in the presence of her youngest son and daughter in law on December 23rd, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Carolyn was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana on April 29th, 1948 along with Carlyle Hastings and Clifford Harrison, a set of triplets. She was raised in New Orleans where she was active in a number of sports, most notably track and field. She graduated from Alcée Fortier High School, and later went on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was married to David Poynter, the father of her two beloved sons, David Joshua (Theresa) and Christopher Eugene (Ashley). In addition to Carlyle (Linda) and Clifford (JoAnn), she is survived by her siblings, Dean Hubert (Linda Jan) and Josephine Dianne (Richard), and (4) grandchildren, numerous relatives, and countless good friends. Carolyn was a devoted, loving mother, who always spoke highly of her two sons that she loved dearly. She was an adventurous soul, who loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. Carolyn was employed with Home Land Security in New Orleans and Idaho until her cancer diagnosis. Her move to Idaho was prompted in part by her interest in her family heritage. Her great, great-grandfather was John Pack, a Mormon who was one of the original pioneers of Utah. She was a committed volunteer who spent time in Peru where she aided in the building of a church. Carolyn’s warmth and welcoming spirit will live amongst her family and friends forever. Her wishes was to be cremated and her remains spread across Lake Ponchatrain.
