Brandon Kyle Stephens

Madisonville

Mr. Brandon Kyle Stephens, age 46, of Madisonville, LA, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, in Slidell, LA.  Kyle was born was August 10, 1976, in Covington, LA, to Jerry L. “Pete” Stephens and Melinda Kay Norris but his mother always said that Kyle was a miracle baby in that he was born with two mothers that loved him equally.  He hit the lottery when Laura Reed Stephens became his other mother when he was six years old.  Kyle attended Cathedral Christian in Center Point, Alabama until he moved back home to Louisiana in 1995.  He attended Covington High School and later attended Southeastern Louisiana University where he received a degree in Criminal Justice.  Kyle was employed for many years with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and later with the Madisonville Louisiana Police Department.  He worked alongside his grandfather, Floyd Norris, selling art and also ran a successful lawn care business for many years to supplement his income as a law enforcement officer. More recently he opened his own wholesale rug company and was traveling the southern states building his business.  In what spare time he had, he enjoyed playing foosball, often playing in tournaments across the United States.  He loved to coach his sons in soccer and football, both of which he played throughout his school life, but more than anything, he loved to fish with his sons.  All of his life, Kyle had a passion for animals and would often bring home a stray, injured or mistreated animal he found on the road.  His family never knew what would be coming home with him to become one of his “babies”.

Kyle is survived by his father, Pete Stephens, and his mothers, Kay Norris and Laura Stephens, his adoring grandfather, Floyd V. Norris, sons, Jack Riley Stephens and Pete Austin Stephens, his girlfriend and loving partner, Gina Browne, sisters Ashley Nicole Ludtke and Keli Stephens Wilkinson (Tres), brothers Jerry L. Stephens, Jr. and Gerald Blake Stephens (Jamie), nieces Kylie Janee’ Ludtke, Lauryn Wilkinson, Grace Wilkinson, Rori Wilkinson, Anna James Wilkinson, Ava Mae Stephens, and nephews, Kobe Irie Ludtke (Lexi), Korbyn Zayne Ludtke and James Stanley “Jase” Wilkinson, great nephew Kylan Ludtke, and great niece, Davina Nichole Ludtke, aunts, Gay Stephens Arwood, and Ronda Side, uncles David M. Norris (Susan), Gordon Stephens and Reginald Stephens (Sharon), and a host of other family members and friends.

Kyle was preceded in death by his grandmother, Betty Jean Riley Norris, and grandparents, Robert Lionel Stephens and Annie Gibbs Stephens, uncles, Gary Stephens, George “Red” Stephens, Charley Stephens, and Guy Stephens.

Funeral services for Kyle will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, Winfield, Alabama, with burial to follow in the Musgrove Chapel Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, it would be appreciated so very much if a green plant is sent that his sons can take home with them in memory of their father, or make a donation to the Northshore Humane Society in Covington, Louisiana in his honor.  They can be reached at (985) 893-7387, Ext. 3.
