BILLIE BRADLEY DAVISON, of Mandeville, Louisiana, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at the age of 65. Billie was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Ila Blanche (Braud) Davison and Roger Smith Davison. She is survived by her devoted husband Gary Baskin, her sons William Thomas Fairburn and John Davison Fairburn, by her grandsons Liam, Lucas, Elijah, and Micah Fairburn (all of whom their GiGi adored), and by her siblings Roberta (Bobbie) Nason, Steve Davison, and Todd Davison. Billie spent her early life in Baton Rouge where she graduated from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. After several years of private practice she moved to Covington, Louisiana to work at the Tulane National Primate Research Center. There she served as a research veterinarian and eventually conducted her own research program focusing on maternal-fetal transmission of HIV and malaria. Billie was brilliant, funny, opinionated, and compassionate to a fault. Her lifelong passion was anything to do with water. She loved beaches, swimming, fishing, snorkeling, and was an avid scuba diver and underwater photographer. She loved being at her house on the Honduran island of Roatán where she and her husband shared many happy times with friends and family. Billie will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
