Beverly Holmes 66, of Angie, Louisiana passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family on 4/10/2025. Beverly was born on 5/25/1958 to Laura Mae Breland and James Ikerd in Bogalusa, Louisiana. She was adopted as a young child by Talmadge Creel who raised her until his death.
Beverly was known for her fighting, sassy spirit. She battled multiple life-threatening and debilitating diseases for many years. She fought a long fight and did it with grace, thankfulness, and a smile on her face through every obstacle she faced. She had a zest for life and made each moment count. Beverly enjoyed the simple, little things in life.
Beverly accepted Christ into her life and was ready to go home to be with her Savior. She longed to spend eternity with her loved ones that had passed before her, especially her darling mother and sister. She leaves behind a legacy of love, treasured memories, and delicious recipes that will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones.
Growing up, she was a tomboy and could definitely hold her own with her brothers. She had a cherished sister, Gayle, that tried to tame her wild energy but anyone who knew Beverly, knew she was never successful. Beverly came into this world full of fiest and left this world with the same fiest and full of sass.
Beverly had many jobs and careers in her life. Her favorite career was cosmetology. She loved making people beautiful. She enjoyed to be pampered and remain stylish. She refused to become a “boring old lady” to the point she quit having birthdays at the age of thirty-nine.
Beverly affectionately referred to herself as a “farmer” in her last days. She was also a Yorkie breeder. She enjoyed caring for and spending time with her multiple farm animals and her three precious Yorkies. Her fur babies brought so much joy to her life.
Beverly showed her love to others through her delicious cooking. No one ever left her home hungry or without begging for one of her prized recipes. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with family, friends, and her fur babies. It never mattered what you were doing or where the destination was. The only thing that mattered to her was that the conversations were flowing constantly. Beverly would have you laughing hysterically the entire time. Beverly loved to laugh and had the most beautiful, genuine smile that could light up any room.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Holmes, her five children: Tammy Branch, Crystal Branch(Woody McKenzie), Danny Branch Jr., Matthew Sorrell(Haley), and Peyton Sorrell, her four grandchildren, Courtney Kennedy(Colt), Amaya Davis, Caitlyn Wheeler(TJ), Willis “DJ” Penton, her five great-grandchildren, Drake Ard, Lucas Penton, Asher Santos, Teagan Wheeler, and Ellie Kate Gendron, her brother, Dale Roy Creel, her sister, Betty Mixon(Rex), and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved as her own.
She was a devoted wife to her husband Joseph Holmes. Through all life’s ups and downs, she was a faithful and loving wife. She leaves “Joe” with an abundance of treasured memories of their spontaneous adventures and laughs they shared. She was a nurturing, caring mother to her five children. She leaves behind of piece of her in each of her children. She leaves Tammy with her strength and resilience, Crystal acquired her spitfire attitude, Danny was blessed with her love of family and friends, Matthew inherited her willingness to try new adventures, and Peyton was gifted with her strong-willed nature.
She was a doting grandmother, known to all as Maw Maw Bev to four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Although, Beverly never mastered the correct pronunciation of her name, she shared a special bond with her favorite granddaughter/best friend, Myra as she called her(Amaya Davis). She also welcomed multiple non-biological grandchildren and great-grandchildren as her own through the years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Mae Breland, her biological father, James Ikerd, her father, Talmadge Creel, her sister, Susan Gayle Ard, her granddaughter, Shae Branch, her brothers, Douglas Creel, Leroy Creel, and Earl Creel, and a son in law, Yancey Davis.
