Betty Marie Decker Theriot, 88, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born on February 11, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to August Decker and Myrtle Wild Decker. Betty grew up in Metairie, Louisiana and had made Covington, Louisiana her home for the past 17 years.
Betty is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and sister-in-law. She was a homemaker most of her life and was exceptionally talented as a seamstress, crafter, cook and gardener. She graduated from Metairie High School and attended Charity Nursing School. She was employed by South Central Bell as an Phone Operator and at Walden Nursing Home and worked as an Activities Coordinator.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Russell Joseph Theriot, Sr., and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Decker. She is survived by children, Sandra Nedbalek (Steve), David Paul Theriot, Suzanne Simon (Craig) and Russell Joseph Theriot Jr.; grandchildren, Rachel Simon, Ryan Cloer (Sarah), Danielle Theriot Voorhies, Whitney Cloer, Hannah Simon and Thomas Simon; great-grandchildren Bennett Cloer and Ruby Hood; sister, Shirley Holland and sister-in-law, Antoinette Decker and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
