Betty Jane Eckliff, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, in Covington, Louisiana at 90 years young. She was born on February 18, 1935, in Port Huron, Michigan, where she first began a life rich with love, laughter, and cherished moments that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
Betty was devoted to her family and her unwavering love for her children was evident. She is survived by her four children, Debra Knight, Pam Wiseman, Lynda Reynier, and Brandi Schech. She was also the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren including Shawn Dillon and his wife Nicole, Christina Husser and her husband Michael, Rawlin Johnson and his wife Monica, Brandi Schech and her husband Brian, Dena Johnson, Matthew Dillon and his wife Erin, Nicholas Knight and his wife Margie, Betsy Loper and her husband Bryian, Wanda Pepper, and Tera Revere and her husband Bradee. As well as 28 great-grandchildren, where she cherished each moment she spent with all of them.
Betty had a diverse array of interests that brought her joy. She was an avid reader, often immersing herself in stories. An animal lover at heart, she delighted in playing with her beloved pets, Snoopy, Remi, and Bella. Bird watching was another of her passions, particularly the enchanting sight of hummingbirds flying around. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, creating irreplaceable memories that will be treasured.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Reed Nestell, her mother, Betty Jane Levitt, her son, Melvin Eckliff, and her sister, Elizabeth Sigafoose. Each of them held a special place in her life, and their memories continue to accompany those she leaves behind.
As we remember Betty Jane Eckliff, we celebrate a life full of love, kindness, and joyful moments shared with family and friends. Her legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
