Barnabas "Barney" Abel Landry

Barnabas Abel Landry, 71, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Lakeview Hospital, surrounded by his loving family in his final days. His devoted wife of over 50 years, Donna, was by his side until the end.

Born on Tuesday, February 12, 1952, in Morgan City, LA, to the late Stephen Joseph Landry and Sadie Budd Landry, Barney was a proud native of Berwick, LA. Throughout his life, he lived in Zachary, LA, Bush, LA, and recently in Mandeville, LA. He shared a loving home with his wife, Donna, and together they raised their cherished sons, Kameron Joseph Landry (Vera) and Casey Ross Landry (Spenser). His only grandchild, Bradly Michael Landry, was a source of immense joy for him.

Barney is preceded in death by his brothers Stephen, Floyd John, Ray Douglas (Nanette), Asher Mark (Lori), Dewey, and Daniel Gene (Barbara), as well as sisters Elaine Ann and Gertrude Theresa Landry.

He is survived by his wife, Donna West Landry, their two sons, Kameron and Casey, grandson Bradly, siblings Sadie Landry Angeron (Donald), Harold Anthony Landry, James Dale Landry (Denise), and Crystal Mary Proctor (Mike). He also leaves behind a large extended family, including beloved cousins, aunts, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he held dear.

Known for his passion for sports, playing billiards and card games, Barney was an unwavering supporter of his beloved New Orleans Saints. He found great joy in watching "Wheel of Fortune" daily, a testament to his cheerful spirit. Barney cherished the camaraderie of special neighbors and dear friends, particularly Jim Olivier, with whom he shared a cherished friendship and football rivalry.

Barney's love for his family was paramount, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As his family and friends remember him, they will carry forward the warmth of his love and the joy he brought into their lives.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeview Hospital for their care and kindness throughout this difficult time.
